Phiranno

Hi P, Introduce yourself: Where are you from, what are your interests/things you love doing in your spare time and what do you do for a living?

Hey Kels, I'm Phiranno but go by P as its much easier :P I'm originally from Melbourne but I have lived in Port Macquarie since December last year. I have always had a passion for the creative things in life. Leaving school, I decided I wanted to be a graphic designer, I did a 3-year course and I was extremely lucky to score an amazing job straight after I had finished at Funlab in Melbourne. Since moving to Port I have started my own Graphic Design business under the name Phiranno Designs but I also run another business with my partner, Colby and that one is called 4x4 Together.  In my spare time, I’ll be outdoors either fishing, 4wding, camping or all of the above!

What do you feel is your purpose in life and how do you think you are making this into reality?

I believe it is to give back to my family and how I am doing so is trying to be successful with the 2 business I am running.

Where did the motivation/inspiration come from to become a Graphic Designer?

It was back in high school actually, throughout schooling I was convinced I wanted to be a web designer. It was until one day, in year 12, I went on a school excursion to a graphic design studio where we did a little workshop with graphic designers to make a poster. I fell in love instantly when I saw how quickly they worked and how they were throwing elements together to make up a poster, I was sold. I'm pretty sure the next day I changed all my career paths to become a graphic designer.

Where do you get your inspiration for your Graphic Design work?

My inspiration comes from being outside, looking through magazines, other artists music, you name it, everywhere really.

What is your favourite aspect about being a Graphic Designer?

I love when clients come to me for help with a logo or branding for a new business they have just started. I'm happiest when I can help a client bring the look and feel of their business to life and they then can continue tor start their business journey.

What are some of the challenges you have faced throughout your business journey and how have you overcome these?

Getting my name out there and pushing myself outside out of my comfort zone, I'd say there the big ones. Moving to a completely new place, having knowing no-one but my partners family and friends whilst starting up my own business was a huge challenge for me. How I have overcome this, well I'm still doing so, I’ve joined groups where I am meeting new people every time and I consistently have the support from my partner Colby, who guides me into the right direction and encourages me to step out of my little bubble.

Who are the people you look up to and support you through this venture?

My biggest support is my Partner, Colby! Without him, I’m not sure where I, myself and the existence of my business would be. I am very lucky and grateful to have such a supportive and understanding person around me 24/7, we work well as a team and I couldn’t thank him enough for all of his efforts!

What is your greatest & proudest achievement you have had so far in your business journey?

Only being in business since the start of this year, there are so many things I am proud of. But the main one would be is actually getting my business up and running, and consistently being proactive about and getting my name out there, that's a huge achievement for me.

What would be one thing you couldn't live without?

Hmm I can name a few but in saying that, you will NEVER see me without a lip balm by my side. I have one stashed everywhere.

What is one thing most people may not know about you?

I am the youngest of 7 but get this, all of our names start with Phir…

Thank you P! :)
